What construct a well structured teaching module ? An effective pedagogy. Pedagogy is the science of teaching or education. At DPiS our pedagogy focuses on ‘how’ teaching and learning occur. We use an array of teaching strategies that include direct instruction, collaborative learning and inquiry based learning. Ultimately , we aim to blend consistency and variety in teaching methods by combining established learning theories with innovative practices and programmes. All of which help students to improve their learning outcomes and achieve their full potential.
Our teaching and learning theories are based on proven practices. At the same time, they are adapted to the contemporary and innovative methods gaining popularity across globe today. We use cognitive , emotional and environmental influences to help students absorb, process and retain information more effectively. We also make it a point to include a wide variety of experiential and visual approach.
Our teaching methodologies are outcome centric . This helps identify the progress students make after a specific learning activity, determining the gap between their existing learning condition and their desired learning state, while providing better direction to the planning of learning activities.
A Learner Centric Focal Point
The delivery mechanism followed by DPiS for school curricula are learner centric in order to make measurable impacts on students lives . Some of the learning outcome we aim for
1. Proficiency in subjects like English , Maths and Science .
2. The ability to think critically and analytically
3. Familiarity with technology.
4. The development of 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration , leadership, personal and social responsibility.
Star of the week
Star of the week is a reward mechanism that we use to build our students’ self-confidence. A student is chosen every week to wear ‘STAR’, the student’s parents visit the school during that week to share their child’s positive attributes with his/her class. Apart from creating healthy self-esteem, this activity also facilitates a strong home-school partnership.
1. Equal learning opportunity for every child in a secure school environment
2. Opportunity to participate in child’s academic progress
3. Optimal student-teacher ratios along with competent faculty to ensure consistent academic standards
We record students’ efforts, progress and achievements in individual portfolio, integrals to assessing their academic journey. These portfolios reveal the skills and understanding of each student and their growth over a period of time.
Kindergarten-Hop, Skip, Sing and Learn
Entering Kindergarten is an exciting experience for children. It is their first big step into formal education. The School understands that the first years of education are of crucial importance. The Kindergarten sets the tone for the entire schooling years of the child. Beginning with the Playgroup, the child traverses the Nursery, Prep I and Prep II stages in a challenging but unique way of learning. The building facility has been designed to offer learning and playing opportunities for children, which supports and enhances their creativity, discovery, and exploration. The Kindergarten centre enfolds a separate play area with split level sand-pit, puppet theatre and a collection of cartoon films. Indoors, each classroom has toy shelves and racks.
